The Zhuyun pillow is filled with 2,970 g (about 6.5 lb) of natural bamboo and wood beads — no foam, no fiberfill, nothing to compress and give up halfway through the night. The beads lock together under your head and neck for firm, stable support, and because the fill is loose, you shape the pillow to your own sleeping position.

Why bead fill supports differently
Foam and fiber pillows work by squashing. Under the weight of your head they compress, lose height, and leave your neck at whatever angle is left over. The Zhuyun works the opposite way: thousands of hollow bamboo and wood beads — each one lathe-turned, about 8–9 mm across — pour against each other and settle into a dense, interlocked mass. It behaves less like a cushion and more like a firm, shapeable support you set once — and it stays set.
The Zhuyun is designed to support the head and neck and help you maintain a comfortable sleep posture through the night, on your back or your side. And because nothing inside is glued into a fixed shape, you can push fill toward the neck edge for a higher cradle, level it out for a lower profile, or fold the end over when you want extra height. And it breathes. Every bead is hollow, and the loose fill leaves air channels all through the pillow, so air keeps moving instead of being trapped the way it is inside a solid block of foam. If memory foam sleeps hot for you, this is the opposite construction.

German Evolon® anti-mite casing
The beads are sealed inside a casing of Evolon® microfilament fabric by Freudenberg (Germany). Its extremely dense weave acts as a physical barrier that dust mites cannot pass through — protection that comes from the fabric itself, not from any chemical coating or spray.

Give it a fair adjustment period
A firm wood-bead pillow feels different from the soft pillow you're used to — that's expected, and adjustment takes longer than one night. Many sleepers settle in over the first several nights; for some, full adjustment takes up to two weeks (the maker's rule of thumb: the younger you are, the longer firm support can take to feel natural). Mild stiffness or soreness in the first days is common. Alternate with your old pillow at first if that helps, and use it all night once you're comfortable. That's exactly why every first order comes with a 30-night trial instead of a 30-day return window that starts ticking at the warehouse.

Is it hard? Will it hurt?
It's firm — that's the point — but the loose beads shift to match the shape of your head and neck rather than pushing against one spot. Most people adapt over the first week or so; full adjustment can take up to two weeks. If firm support simply isn't for you, the 30-Night Trial has you covered.
Can I adjust the height?
Yes. Push fill where you want it, or fold the tail end under/over to add height. Back sleepers usually prefer the lower end; side sleepers often add fill or a fold. Details in the usage guide.

How do I clean it?
